That really is horrible. All the conflicting emotions. It is wretched when there's a brazen sin being committed under your nose and you can't even let yourself feel indignant about it because you're guilty for thinking there's anything wrong in the first place. There was some of that in the only meaningful relationship I've ever had. Lots of Jekyll-and-Hyde-ing on my part as a result. Distance is probably the best thing. Distance; and taking away the lesson never to fall for a straight boy. It's not worth the inevitable heartbreak. Not that you can help it, most of the time.
And yet for the past few hours that's all I been doing.
I may have had an unhealthy dependence on him. I find the prospect of distance from him to be quite scary at times. Now's the time though. Tomorrow is going to be torture, we're having a celebration party at a friends place. He's coming with me and I'm certainly in no mind to celebrate right now.
It's really hard, but try to avoid thinking about it as much as possible. If that's not gonna happen, try to get away from it however you can and do something enjoyable and distracting. The more you think about it, the worse the internal conflict'll make you feel. I ended up wallowing in self-pity one moment, full of anger at the next, full of self-loathing for the anger the next, fighting with myself like that for a while and found myself sobbing into my knees, apologising to no one when the dust settled, because I let myself dwell on it for a month or more. You might not feel like you want to do anything, but do something, anything to take your mind off it.
And Easy and Have One on Me, and '81, and No Provenance and On a Good Day and In California and Jackrabbits and Go Long and... You know what? I think the only thing I can stomach right now is new age music.
Pretty dolphin sounds.
We talked about it today at a party. Never go to a party in a bad mood.
There could have been someone else there in a bad mood and you could have moped together all night and then said, "Let's blow this joint!" and gone off and had fun and it could have been the start of a romance that only occurs in movies. But mostly parties in a bad mood suck.
Ugh! I am thisclose to throwing my laptop out the window. Mostly it's just itunes. I was moving a bunch of music files from my external hardrive to my macbook, and then when I was going to import them to itunes, I stupidly decided to "add to library" the whole "itunes music" folder, rather than individual albums. I guess that's a lot of freaking music, but most of it's already in there, so I assumed itunes knew that....swear I've done this before...and I expected it to take a while...but it obviously froze. Not just itunes. My whole effing computer. I can't even command+option+esc that shit it's so frozen. I had to hold the power button and restart. When I opened itunes again, it was STILL trying to complete that process, but it was still frozen in the same spot. I restarted the computer at least 7 times (isn't that the definition of insanity--to repeat the same actions again and again expecting different results?) and finally just completely uninstalled itunes and then downloaded the new version. I was expecting all my playlists and such to be gone, but was pleasantly surprised to see that itunes somehow still had them. IT ALSO STILL REMEMBERED IT WAS TRYING TO COMPLETE THE SAME PROCESS AND FROZE IN THE SAME SPOT. WHY DOES IT REMEMBER EVERYTHING?! ISN'T THAT KIND OF CREEPY? I WISH IT WOULD STOP TRYING TO "HELP" ME AND JUST FORGET WHAT IT WAS DOING BEFORE IT WAS SHUT DOWN LIKE COMPUTERS DID BACK IN THE DAY. So what I want to know is...how the shit do I get this idiotic program to STOP trying to complete a process it is obviously incapable of completing?!?!
Uninstalling doesn't necessarily get rid of everything associated with the program. Very often the preferences and such are left behind, just in case you decide to reinstall. It sounds like that is what has happened. I usually rummage around in the system, including the registry, and delete or change everything I can find related to the uninstalled software. How that works on a Mac, I haven't a clue.
Yeah, I deleted EVERYthing and tried it again (there're a lot more files associated with iTunes all over my freaking computer than I ever would have guessed). Now I have to re-add my whole library, which I imagine will take all night. Which is fine with me, as long as it doesn't freeze again. I'll go to bed and let it do its thing. But now I've lost all my playlists. Well, actually...I didn't delete ALL the files. I moved the old itunes folder (minus the music files) to my external and then deleted them from the macbook. So maybe my playlists are in there somewhere. Not sure how to get to them w/o my computer exploding, though.
Found out today that the census in England, Northern Ireland and Wales was contracted to Lockheed Martin. "Well, at least I live in Scotland!" I thought, only to discover shortly thereafter that the Scottish census has been contracted to CACI International, who are accused of torturing prisoners in Abu Ghraib (including an incident involving the sexual assault of a minor).
