I spent the last hour or so outside with friends. The moon was completely hidden by clouds. :mad:

It was cloudy here too. I was peeking outside every so often (it's scary at my house at night!) and watching it slowly get covered and then it was just gone. I watched a live feed instead.

Watched The Last Samurai. Are there meant to be subtitles on the Japanese bit? I couldn't tell because DivX said it couldn't read the subtitle file. It was awesome anyway, I cried like five times during the second half.

Fantastic movie! I remember subtitles in the scene where a group of samurai were making bets about how many moves it would take Ujio to beat Nathan Algren during training with the bokken. There is a lot of inconsistency in DivX movies, from the video and audio codecs used, to what type of subtitle file (if any) is included. Different players use different types of subtitle files. I've had to teach myself how to convert files that don't work with my players. Sometimes I can't do it. :confused:

I didn't have the subtitles in that scene, but that kinda made it better. I could still tell what they were talking about and it kinda made it more charming that I couldn't understand the words. That was what I was wondering - is leaving the viewer in the dark about what's being said and forcing them to understand the conversation using only their empathy for the characters an effective cinematic device, or are my subtitles just not working?

I'm watching The Room. I'm not exaggerating even slightly when I say that there is nothing worse in the world, nor has there ever been nor will there ever be. This makes Manos: The Hands of Fate look like a life-affirming and uplifting experience. I'm laughing my lungs up. I can't recommend it highly enough.
