Oh, modernise. What an absurd government that can't get away with granting its citizens basic human necessities. We may not be perfect across the pond, but at least we grew out of laissez-faire a century ago.
Yes, we might be going through a rough patch, but I'd far rather the country was left in ruins as a consequence of caring for its vulnerable than fuelled its prosperity with the bodies of the downtrodden.
