I used to have more bad than good but now it is the other way round.
Although yesterday I had a huge argument on the beach at Dungeness. He was getting all shouty at me and then we were just standing on a beach in the middle of nowhere shouting at eachother, Oh dear what must we have looked like
And every little gust that chances through Will dance in the dust of me and you
Oh no, Hershey's!? I'm stuck in my room with an awful hangover, I missed the bus for a field trip this morning (but I wasn't totally pumped about going anyway) and I have a ton of work to do.
Last night, I, in a very strange and slightly tipsy state, placed bubblegum in a girl's hair. I knew what I was doing. Why did I do it? She's a really nice girl, we get on well. Not a close friend, but a girl I wouldn't mind being closer to. She became rather distressed, to the point of tears (but don't get the impression that she was just being precious) because usually the only solution to this is to actually cut it off. Thankfully, it didn't come to that.
So, she ran off to the bathroom. I went up to the bar, bought a drink, put it in her place for when she got back, and walked out. I walked for a few minutes in the most logical direction, approached a tree and started hitting my head against it, repeating the words "I'm a fucking lunatic". At the time I did not think this as weird; there are occasions when one takes pleasure in acting slightly odd, but this was not one of those occasions. I then realized that I had 7 minutes to do a 10 minute walk if I wanted to get the next train home, so I ran to the station.
After this, I've decided that I'm probably not going to drink for a while. Not because alcohol is evil, but because in theory, a perfect person with only pure thoughts will still be such a saint no matter what his mental state. It will be worth my time to take a breather, go on walks at night and try and figure out why my brain is where it is. I'm usually seen as studious, a protector, but I can be so awful, even when I'm in a position in which I totally comprehend my actions.
You don't seem that odd, Tom! Then again, I'm pretty odd myself. I think we all have those days when everything seems out of place, but I'm sure you'll work it out. I wish you the best of luck.

No need to answer this, but are you on medication? If so, you may want to consider reviewing the dose and the drugs that you're on. Perhaps try a different psychiatrist. Generally speaking it's worth splashing out on a non-NHS consultant (if you're in the UK, I suppose you don't really have a choice in America) if you've been on several cocktails of drugs that haven't worked, preferably someone with a lot of experience. If you are in the UK, your GP or NHS psychiatrist could probably recommend someone. I did and was off the pills within a month and feeling better than ever. Anyway, that's assuming you are. If you're not, then it's hard to say, really. I wouldn't suggest seeing a psychiatrist if you've never seen one before (especially not in America; you're liable to be put on antipsychotics because you sleep in sometimes); but maybe a psychologist/therapist would be appropriate just for the purpose of obtaining a diagnosis? Not that diagnosis is worth much either, it's all done with forms. Mental health is such a doggedly insoluble issue. The best thing to do is probably just to talk to someone in whom you can confide.
I'm not on medication, but I went to a psychologist a few years back when I realized that I was being insanely over-protective of my then-girlfriend. I like to think that, in being able to see that there was a problem that needed to be solved inside ME, I was better than any other idiot who could act like that. Anyway, one session and I figured it all out. It was like magic.
This is very different, though, since it's actually something deep inside me, not something I consciously do or feel. I'll talk to people I know about it, but as you can imagine it's not an easy topic; people often start trying to give advice ("act nicer", "make an effort") and when they start doing that I realize that they genuinely don't understand what I'm going through in the slightest.
Wow, that must have been a pretty good psychologist. In 12 sessions with mine I learnt nothing but things I already knew. I knew exactly why I was behaving the way I was, it just seemed reasonable, justifiable and - most importantly - unavoidable to me at the time. Sometimes professional help is most appropriate for the deep-seated things you don't really understand. Though I am quite sceptical about its efficacy. People aren't really very good at giving advice about this sort of thing unless they've experienced similar themselves. When I went crazy on my meds, the only solution was for me not to be around people until my GP readjusted the dose - "If you don't like it when you do that, stop doing that" isn't really in any way helpful or sufficient when you feel like a bystander observing your own actions more than the agent behind them. Maybe most people genuinely have an experience of something like "free will". I always feel more like I'm observing and rationalising what I do than influencing it.
I have never found a good shrink. but i have antisocial personality disorder, aka sociopathy. it's entirely untreatable. even when I was in the sanitarium, the best I got was a prescription for zoloft. I one did a little bit of CBT that kind of worked, but I still struggle with anxiety. And it sucks knowing no shrink; no matter how good; can fix you.
Of course, I have one aim, the grotesque. If I am not grotesque I am nothing.
This is such a silly, superficial thing to be sad about, but last night my friend told me that a guy we know had mentioned to her that I had "hottie potential" but I was too natural and needed to wear more make-up and style my hair. The sad thing is I've been wearing SO much more make-up lately because I used to wear none. I just don't wear very heavy eye make-up, but it still takes me awhile to get ready. Also, I spend a lot of time on my hair, just straightening it because it's a coarse and wavy mess otherwise. When I told my friend that I do wear make-up, she paused and said, "Yeah, but you should try how other people wear it..." Which made me feel like she agreed with him. I know that I shouldn't care because clearly that guy is pretty lame, but it's still sort of a harsh thing to hear when I've been trying so hard to be conventionally pretty lately.
