I don't like it when people move in my house. It makes me feel self-conscious.

Do you mean move into or move around? I'm not that keen on other people in the house either: once there are more than about two, it seems to reach a critical mass and some dispute occurs between members of my family, at which point I'd rather be anywhere else than having to listen in on it all.

My fucking father has decided I spend too much time on the internet, so I only get to use it for 1/2 hour per day. I feel so lonely and depressed because I don't have any real life friends, and my only friends are you guys. I barely have time to check here.

i've no more real connection and of course i miss net all the time, but when i've nothing i knit, clean, make jewel, etc...it's not worth for my time, keep faith and you'll discover new thing to do

well, perhaps shall we find real life friends but :confused:

I am trying to reason with my dad. If I were to go to a party with all of my friends, would I only be allowed to be there for half an hour? I think not.
Plus I can manipulate the shit out of my parents. 'I need the internet. You want me to cut again? wah wah wah I am an annoying teenager'.
Plus, I just made the coolest new internet friend. I don't want to lose that!

Good to hear from you, Ursula: I hope your dad listens to your reasons, and I know you will argue them well. And I'm glad to hear you made a new friend, too.

But I beg you, whatever you might threaten to do, please don't cut. I know I speak for everyone when we say we'd hate to see a single cell of you come to any harm. And if you are going to threaten, I am sure only you will know the 'lie of the land', but don't let anyone have an excuse to take drastic measures against you, pleeease.

Thank you, Ursula ... you are too kind. I really do hope that you get that situation resolved - and that's not just me being selfish in wanting to read lots more of your comments than 30 minutes a day would allow; it's because we all really are unhappy that you're being denied this, your main outlet for enjoyment and interaction, and apparently for such arbitrary (or non-existent) reasons. I remember seeing somewhere, among the mass of new 'rights' that everyone is supposed to have [let's not go there!] someone coined "a right to the internet, and an online life". Half an hour hardly confers that, does it: my creaking PC takes almost that long to boot up! So if your father is of that persuasion, you could try that line on him, too!

I am guessing Milkisobel's little message wasn't meant for me, because if I was cleverer, I'd have understood it better ... but in any case, I am enjoying being mesemrised by her little wagging finger!

I am just a little bit down. My dad wants me to stop spending my days drinking cpffee/tea and watching telly/ on the internet/ playing videogames. He wants me to do something productive. But I just feel really lonely and disconnected.

On a much lighter note, just spotted this in my Facebook news feed...

"Did the Chinese dude from the hangover really die???? If he did sad day. I freaking loved him."

My first thought is: you clearly have access to the internet -- why not just look it up? My second thought is a reminder of what the world looks like to most Americans. All land below us = Mexico. Europe = Freedom-hating socialistville. Most of Asia = China. Everything else is Muslim or not important enough to think about.
