I took Concerta for six years. At first it worked really well. But after about three years, I was just on autopilot. I couldn't eat, I couldn't sleep. And after 5 years, I was on twice the doseage perscribed for someone my wieght. As soon as I went off Concerta, I gained 40 lbs. I went from being 80 lbs to being 120, in a period of about two months. I had forgotten what it feels to feel. And for the first time in years, I didn't look lke a character from Trainspotting.
I take Strattera (and Zoloft, but that's for GAD). It's nice. I feel like there is less of a marked difference between when I take it and when I don't.
But if Concerta works for you, go for it!

Speaking of meds...

I'm on the verge of freaking out. My psychiatrist has been so awesome in the past. After spending a ton of money to get to him, he saw me for free because he knew I didn't have money. I'm running low on medication now and every time in the past when I would call him, he'd answer or call back right away and see me the next day. I called him Thursday, Friday and today. Each time it goes to voicemail (where it says I've reached his office). He hasn't called back. I've left a message each time explaining I'm almost out and I can pay him for the appointments now. I cannot afford to find a new psychiatrist and even though my husband is in the military I've been too busy to get everything together to get me enrolled in health care. Since I have more time now, I finally started the process, but my meds are only for the next 9 days ... when pushing it and taking far lower than my prescription. There's no way I can get the health insurance stuff done in 9 days. I'm in my final month of school and still working M - F and there is no way I can go off this medication now. I will be a zombie, and then I will be useless. I'm seriously panicking. I don't understand why he's not calling me back.

EDIT oh hallelujah praise the lord he called me, i've a new 3-month prescription, no more zombie worries.

nice, no more worries

I had a similar problem the past weeks. People came to the house I lived in, and told us that our landlord had been renting rooms illegally. We had to get out of there, before the 1st of december.
But it's really hard to find a room in Amsterdam! There's a website for it, called Kamernet, but every room that is posted there gets 120 replies within 12 hours! So I was getting more worried everyday..
Then, ironically, at the peak of my worries, I got two replies. Both mails were like: 'yeah Gerben, we chose you to have this room.' So I got a room with it's own kitchen, close to Amsterdam central, and now my worries are over for a while

I am going for coffee with Kenny later. I have a terrible problem with catastrophising. What if it's really uncomfortable for the both of us? What if I can only see what I loved in him? Oh god, I am a mess. And to make matters worse, it's hot and humid. I have to ride my bike there. ewwwww.

When I was on holiday in Australia, one day it was 40°C. On the coast, too, so the humidity was nightmarish. I was... eight or nine at the time, felt like I was dying.

This girl at work used to be nice to me and now she's ever-so-subtly throwing me under the bus constantly by doing the cattiest little things. Probably because I've thoroughly revealed my timidity. I'm so frustrated. What's terrible is that, in all honestly, I could have her fired in a second due to it being a family business, but that'd be so shitty and juvenile of me (I'd never do it; but I think of it to get the smallest amount of revenge in my mind whenever she screws me over), so I basically just endure (confrontation makes me burst into tears). Blurgh.

Hi Ann - I am really sorry to hear about that, and I can sympathise totally, because something similar happened to me. It took place over the course of a year, and ranged from being ignored, to outright hostility, and various other unpleasantnesses in between. (If you're interested, I can message you a bit more about it, but I am uncomfortable discussing all the details in open forum).

I had a choice about what to do about it. I could have 'fought-like-with-like' (though it'd be against my nature), or I could have sought some kind of formal retribution (my boss was aware of it and eager to act, but told me he wanted a signal from me to commence). However, I decided to do nothing, even though it was making me terribly sad and stressed.

It's still painful to look back on it (this was years ago) but I am 100% certain that the way I chose was right. My dignity and what self-respect I can afford myself both remained intact, and as it happened the situation took a remarkable turn for the better, which could not have happened if I had taken any other course.

I'm probably a bad choice of advisor, but here's some anyway! Be true to your own principles, and try not to allow someone else's selfish or boorish behaviour cause you to act in a way that you would not be proud of.
