Why do you care that someone else worked for it? Why would you not be happy for someone to take something you had worked for?

Well for one thing if you put a lot of time and effort into obtaining something that time is wasted if what you have worked for is taken away.

I'm not saying that possessions are the most important thing in the world....

I just think that we are empathetic to some degree and the old golden rule still holds true. That is why we are so successful as a species, it's worked for a good long time.
